I studied Physics and Philosophy at Bristol and I've been tutoring for five years. I teach very visually — and you'll find we work as equals rather than me standing at the front of anything.
Most of the fear around physics comes from pushing equations about without being able to see what they mean. I work the other way round. We build the mental picture first, and after that the maths is just bookkeeping.
School level through to first-year undergraduate.
Arithmetic and algebra through to calculus and beyond. When someone's stuck at a higher level, it's usually something much earlier that never properly landed — so that's the first place I go looking.
Getting confident about the basics again is very often where the real progress is hiding.
How to read a text closely, how to spot the move an author is making, and how to answer the question you were actually asked instead of the one you'd rather have had.

How my lessons run
Academic tuition works especially well online — a shared screen and a digital whiteboard beat a cramped kitchen table every time. I teach from England or Bilbao depending on the season.
Homework, past papers, the topic you've been quietly dreading, or the specification you're working to. Send it over beforehand and I'll have looked at it before we start.
Diagrams, sketches and analogies rather than walls of algebra. If there's a picture that makes an idea obvious, I'll find it for you.
Whichever board or syllabus you're on, I'll work to it — including timed practice and marking against the criteria the examiner will actually use.
30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. Longer sessions suit exam preparation; shorter ones are better for keeping ticking over week to week.
I've taught people of all ages and learning styles, including neurodivergent students. Tell me what helps you and I'll build the lesson around it.
