Online, wherever you are

Hello — I'm Ed

I teach violin, drums, percussion and music theory. I also teach physics, maths and philosophy. Mostly I teach online, which means it doesn't much matter where either of us happens to be.

Fill in the form and it'll come straight to me. I answer everything myself.

  • I teach online, anywhere in the world
  • Lessons are 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes — or whatever actually suits you
  • My youngest student is six, my oldest is seventy-five
  • Total beginners are very welcome, and so are people coming back after years away
  • Grades, orchestra parts, ear training — or nothing in particular, just for the love of it
  • I've taught all sorts of learners, including neurodivergent students

Book a lesson

Fill this in and it'll write the message for you — then you choose whether to send it by email or WhatsApp.

I teach online all over the world. So I can suggest times that actually work for you, roughly where are you?

Nothing is sent until you press send yourself.

How I teach

Relaxed, and no hierarchy

Over the years I've had good teachers and awful, awful teachers, and I know exactly which kind I'd rather be. We'll get along as equals. Nobody is going to be told off in my lesson.

I'm easygoing and I'll shape the way I teach around the way you learn. If something isn't landing, that's my problem to solve, not yours — we'll come at it from another angle until it does.

I think you learn fastest when you're actually enjoying yourself, so that's what I aim for first.

The practical bits

Things you might be wondering

Why online?

I split my time between England and Bilbao, so online is simply the way I can teach you reliably, week after week, wherever you are.

Can we meet in person?

Sometimes, yes — it depends where I am. Tell me where you're based on the form and I'll be honest with you about what's workable.

How long are lessons?

30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. If none of those fit, choose “open to discussion” and we'll sort something out between us.

I haven't got an instrument

Not a problem at all. Say so on the form and I'll point you at something sensible to hire or buy before we start.

I'm nervous / I'm too old / I'm hopeless

You're not, and I've heard all three many times. Come once and see. There's no contract and nothing to commit to.

I learn differently

Good — tell me how. I've taught every age and every sort of learner, including neurodivergent students, and I'll build the lesson around what actually helps you.

Whenever you're ready

Come and have a first lesson

It takes a minute to fill in, you're not committing to anything, and it's me who replies.
